Teachers, Take 5

Educators often are so focused on the needs of students, they don’t always take time to take care of themselves.

Kaiser Permanente Thriving Schools and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation are working to change that with #TeachersTAKE5.

TeachersTakes5 digital campaign inspires teachers and school employees nationwide to take five minutes a day to concentrate on their own health and be healthier with their colleagues. Doing so can help them bring their best selves to their work and may positively affect their schools to improve student learning, behavior, and attendance.

At TeachersTake5.org, participants can access healthy, five-minute activities to do by themselves or with their co-workers. School staff and teachers can also access employee wellness programs by enrolling in Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program. Enrollment is free and gives educators more resources for students and staff, as well as trainings and technical assistance.

Whether taking five minutes to do a deep breathing exercise, stretch and move, drink water, or eat a healthy snack, the TeachersTake5 campaign encourages teachers and school employees to remember the importance of their own health and well-being. The campaign launched in October and will continue through June 2018.
