Kelli Tye was born with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a genetic heart disease that required medication and cardiac care from a young age. Over the years, her heart health started to decline and she was diagnosed with severe heart failure. After months of meetings and rigorous tests with a Kaiser Permanente transplant team in Los Angeles, Kelli was put at the top of the list for a heart transplant. The transplant gave Kelli the energy to enjoy time with her grandson and do the things she loves.

From prevention to disease management and state-of-the-art treatment, Kaiser Permanente’s 186,000 employees and 18,600 physicians work every day to improve the health of its members and the communities it serves. Find out more in the 2015 Annual Report and Community Benefit Snapshot.

In 2015, Kaiser Permanente celebrated 70 years of dedication to the health and well-being of its members and communities. It was also a year of remarkable growth. More than 115,000 people joined Kaiser Permanente through public health insurance exchanges and, for the first time, Kaiser Permanente membership surpassed 10 million.

Kaiser Permanente was recognized with the first-ever Living the Vision Award for ongoing achievement in clinical, safety and membership satisfaction scores and for continually raising the bar on quality and safety. Kaiser Permanente continues to look to the future, pushing to change the industry from one that is based primarily on fixing health problems to one centered on wellness and achieving total health of mind, body and spirit.

The Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, announced in 2015, will redesign physician education around Kaiser Permanente’s care delivery model — incorporating advanced health information technology, moving beyond the traditional health care setting, acknowledging the importance of collaboration, and promoting diversity and inclusion to deliver health equity.
