Community Partners recently presented an Albert R. Rodriguez Civic Legacy Honor in Los Angeles to Kaiser Permanente Southern California in recognition of its strong partnership and work with the organization. Inspired by Community Partners’ late co-founder, the award acknowledges spirited dedication to ethical integrity, public accountability, and fiscal prudence.
Community Partners offers expert guidance and essential services to help launch and grow creative solutions to community challenges in Southern California. Kaiser Permanente has proudly collaborated with the nonprofit for the past decade on various projects, including:
- The Healthy Eating Active Living Initiative, which has led to the development of 10 “HEAL Zones” designed to help make healthy choices more accessible to people in underserved communities
- The Thriving Schools Initiative, which helps create healthier school environments, builds healthy habits for healthy eating and active lifestyles, and supports teacher and staff wellness
- The formation of the Institute for High Quality Care, which provides tools, trainings, and resources for safety net health care providers, integrated health delivery systems, and foundations focused on improving the health of the communities they serve
- The California Accountable Communities for Health Collaborative, which brings together clinical providers with public health departments, schools, social service agencies, community organizations, and others, to make a community healthier
“Kaiser Permanente is dedicated to improving the health of the communities that we serve, and we are honored by this recognition of our work by one of our great partners,” said Cynthia Telles, PhD, Community Health Committee board chair.
Roberta Tinajero, community health manager, Kaiser Permanente Southern California, accepted the award for Kaiser Permanente at Community Partners’ annual holiday event in December. Tinajero praised the support and guidance of Community Partners’ staff, emphasizing how “Community Partners has taught us what true resident and youth involvement is all about.”
