Kaiser Permanente volunteers throughout Southern California mobilized on Jan. 21 to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 15th Annual MLK Day of Service.

Across the region, volunteers rolled up their sleeves – many using paid time off – to make a difference in remembrance of Dr. King’s commitment to community service. Their impact is felt through dozens of projects, including cleaning school campuses, gardening, painting, offering health education in under-resourced communities, and gathering supplies for the homeless, to name a few.

The MLK Day of Service supports Kaiser Permanente’s mission and the belief that health extends beyond the doctor’s office and the hospital and starts in our own communities. Creating healthy environments with successful schools and safe parks and playgrounds helps people in our communities by increasing access to resources needed to thrive.

Service opportunities in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will continue all week in Southern California. To learn more about volunteering opportunities year-round, visit kpcares.org.
