Community Medicine Fellowship

Graduates of family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics residency programs can delve into community health work in the form of 13-month-long, full-time fellowships. The goal of the program is to improve the health of underserved communities by collaborating with safety net providers in Southern California to assess community health needs and coordinate and evaluate the allocation of resources.  With an emphasis on self-directed growth and professional exploration, fellows have a wide range of opportunities to become involved in their communities, collaborating with local partners, helping to develop the talents and inspiring the passion of students and residents, and conducting research.  Fellows provide direct patient care and mentor residents and medical students in the provision of care in a variety of settings, including community health clinics, homeless shelters, and local schools. The program also provides a rich curriculum in health policy.
