The Educational Theatre (ET) and Watts Counseling and Learning Center (WCLC) collaborated to continue a school beautification project at Weigand Avenue Elementary in Watts.

MLK activites at Weigand included cleaning classrooms and painting two large murals on the outside walls of the school's library.

Both murals introduce the messages of Educational Theatre's literacy promotion program. Messages included, "Nothing is more powerful than words" and "One letter, one sound, one word at a time."

Twenty community members and Weigand staff joined the 50 ET and WCLC staff on MLK Day.
